Description
It is a colorless gaseous element found in group 18 (noble gases) of the periodic table. Neon is found in the atmosphere and makes up 0.0018% of the atmosphere's volume. It emits a distinctive reddish glow when used in neon-based lamps and discharge tubes. It forms almost no compounds. Neon was invented in 1898 by Sir William Ramsey and M.W. It was discovered by Travers.
