Silvery is the metal element found among the lanthanides. Tb-159 is the only stable isotope. There are 17 artificial isotopes. G.G. It was discovered by Mosander in 1843.

It is found in monazite sand containing 0.03% terbium along with other soil elements. It can also be obtained from xenotime and euxenite, both of which are oxide mixtures containing up to 1% terbium.
