Description
It is a transuranic, radioactive metal element. It is found in the actinides class. Cf-251 has a half-life of around 700 years. There are nine known isotopes. Cf-252 is a dense neutron source. In this way, it can be used in neutron activation analysis and as a radiation source in medicine. It was first obtained by Glenn T. Seaborg and his colleagues in 1950.
