Etymological Description

It is named after the city of Dubna (Joint Institute for Nuclear Research, USSR) where it was discovered. Researchers at the University of California, Berkeley, proposed the name hahnium in honor of Otto Hahn for his pioneering work in radioactivity and radiochemistry, but the name was rejected. Unilpentium was used as a provisional systematic name.
