Etymological Description
It is named after the state of Tennesee, which takes its name from the Cherokee village of Tanasi, where important work was done on one of the steps in synthesizing the element. It is also known by the names eka-astatin and ununseptium (Uus), which is provisionally given by the International Union of Applied Fundamentals and Chemistry.
